For its final meeting of the year, the Society held its usual invitation to members to bring along any photographs they fancied sharing.
Both traditional transparencies and digital images were shown with the variety expected in the circumstances. Topics covered were heritage railways over the last two years, Great Western and Western Region steam, steam and diesel power in New England, the West Midlands ten years ago, steam specials on UK main lines and a veritable steam potpourri from around the world.
Apart from the usual raffle, there was an additional draw with two tickets on the Shakespeare Express as the prize. Possibly the best part of the evening was a sizeable buffet into which members tucked whole-heartedly.
The next meeting is on Monday February 1 when Chris Dyche makes a welcome return with ‘A Railway Miscellany’.
All will find something of interest in this illustrated presentation.
All meetings start at 7.30 at the Birchley Social Club, Brunel Road, Oldbury.
Everyone is welcome and no membership is required. For further information, contact George Richards (0121 559 4888), Alan Shenton (0121 559 3200) or Alan Atkinson (01562 886549).
