A SERVICE set up to give practical advice and assistance to bereaved Sandwell families has helped more than 800 in its first year.
The Tell Us Once service makes it easier to notify Sandwell Council departments, government and other organisations of a death.
Staff can inform departments such as council tax, housing benefit and social services, as well as the Passport Office, Post Office, Pension Service, Centro, TV Licensing and the hospital when someone dies.
They can also provide information about seeking help with funeral costs, bereavement benefits and probate.
The service, based at Sandwell Bereavement Support Centre at the Register Office, Highfields, West Bromwich, and callers making appointments to register deaths, have the option to see a bereavement support officer. Call 0121 569 2491 to make an appointment.
