OLD Halesonians skipper Chris Wagstaff believes they must match DK’s ruthlessness if they have any chance of pulling off a shock win this Saturday.
Wagstaff knows his side head to Heathbrook cast in the role of party poopers as the hosts bid to clinch the Midlands One West crown in the derby clash at Heathbrook (kick-off 3pm).
But Hales are locked in an intense battle of their own for third place in the division and the captain says they must learn lessons from the first meeting this season - which DK won 41-5.
He said: “When we played at our place we seemed to have a lot of possession but they capitalised on every error, no matter how small.
“We didn’t really do anything when we had the ball and we must match them in terms of finishing.
“It’s going to be a really tough game but with this being a derby match and with them on the verge of winning the title, it would be great to upset the party and get the win.”
While Wagstaff will be going all out to ruin DK’s day, he is nevertheless impressed by what they have achieved this season and believes they can act as an inspiration for other clubs in the area.
He added: “They are quite clearly a cut above everyone else.
“They are a big club really and they are getting back to where they belong.”
