HALESOWEN put the disappointment of being deducted 30 points to end their Birmingham and District League Division Two season with a winning draw against Harborne on Saturday.
The home side bagged 16 points plus maximum bonus points to finish well clear of the bottom two. Without the docked points, they would have bagged sixth place.
Skipper Wes Griffiths said: “We found out in midweek that our appeal against the points deduction had not been successful but, for the players, it was just a matter of getting on with the job in hand.
“We turned in an excellent result against a side that finished third in the table.
Griffiths added: “Now it’s just a matter of looking forward. It’s early days, but there’s no reason for us to think that we’ll lose many players. We believe we are more than capable of finishing in the top four or five next season.”
