THE Rotary Club has launched a website so runners can sign up for the Halesowen Fun Run.

With Olympic fever gripping the nation organisers are hoping for a bumper turn out for the fun run around the streets of Halesowen.

The five kilometre run, which is the only road race in the borough, is being held on Sunday, September 16.

The Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary Club is hoping to raise a substantial amount of money for good causes and runners will be urged to get sponsors for the event.

Rotarian and organiser Alan Bowler said: “It is really easy for people to register for the fun run and raise money for good causes. “People can go to www.halesowenrotaryfunrun.org and download the registration form, send in their fee and get started with being sponsored.”

There are sponsorship forms available to print and people can also donate money through Virgin Money Giving.

Regular updates about the fun run will appear on the website as well as on the Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary Club Facebook and Twitter (@HalesowenRotary) pages.

The fun run will be one of the biggest days of the year in Halesowen and the route will include Queensway, Bromsgrove Road, Whitehall Road, Church Road, Rumbow and Birmingham Road and thousands of spectators are expected to line the course to cheer on the runners.

The event was given another major boost this week with the announcement that Audi has signed up as the fun run’s major sponsor.

David Matty, from the Rotary Club, said: “Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary are delighted to announce that Halesowen Audi are supporting the Fun Run.

“It’s fantastic news that Halesowen Audi are supporting the local community and enabling more of the money raised via the Fun Run to go to Halesowen and Rowley Regis Rotary’s local charities.”

Other sponsors signed up include Sandvik, CHC Engineers and Fitness Works Gym and to see more visit the website - www.halesowenrotaryfunrun.org.
