A real life ‘celery bag’ is rivalling an Italian luxury fashion brand’s eye-wateringly expensive equivalent.

Moschino launched their Sedano – meaning celery in Italian – product for a staggering £3,730.

And in response to that design, a leading British retailer has produced a real life model made of celery – costing just 75p.

Aldi has taken the leap into the world of high fashion, making the eco-friendly and functional design – 5,000 times cheaper than the original – from real celery stalks.

Moschino's description of its 'Sedano Bag' reads: “Maxi celery-shaped clutch with a digital print that has a three-dimensional effect.

“The leaves and branches in nappa leather are meticulously handcrafted in two shades of green to add depth, harmony, and realism to the accessory.

“Its unique shape represents the symbol of Moschino's irreverent spirit'.

Moschino was soon mocked online with a shopper on Reddit quipping: 'Where would you wear these? At the farmers market?'

Another said: 'I might as well use what’s in my fridge and go outside' and a third declared: 'I think it’s rich people cosplaying regular people who do things like buying groceries lol'.

A TikTok user branded the bag's eye-watering £3,730 price tag 'insane' while a Reddit user said: 'The neeeeerrrrve' and another said: 'Pass without lotto money'.

Aldi’s latest launch attracted attention among Aldi fans with social media users commenting:

“You mean to tell me the celery bag doesn’t come with actual celery”

“Floored – I didn’t believe it at first and then saw the bag actually cost over £3700”

“I thought it was a lie. I googled. It isn’t. What were @moschino thinking!”

An Aldi spokesperson said: “Our ‘Celery Bag’ is not just a fashion statement; it’s a celebration of affordability and good taste.

“At Aldi, we believe that true style should be accessible to all”.

Aldi’s ‘Celery Bags are available nationwide priced at 75p.
