Halesowen Town scored three goals in a six minute blitz to cruise past Congleton Town in the Isuzu FA Trophy first round.

The Yeltz were dominant in the second half on Saturday (October 26), at the Grove with goals from Conor Tee, Musa Ceesay, McKauley Manning and Jordan Ponticelli comfortably guiding Halesowen to the three points.

Halesowen manager Russ Penn said: "We made hard work of it today.

"It looks on paper a fantastic result, but defensively we were so open.

"If not for (goalkeeper) Dan Platt it could’ve been 4-4."

Ponticelli had several chances for Halesowen in the first half, including an 18th-minute effort that struck the underside of the crossbar.

Platt also made several important first-half saves to deny Congleton’s Max McCarthy.

After a fruitless first half for both sides, the goals came thick and fast after the break.

The hosts opened the scoring in the 50th minute when Manning crossed from the right for Tee to bundle home at the far post.

Two minutes later, Ceesay made it 2-0 with a fine effort into the bottom corner on his home debut.

Manning made it 3-0 in the 56th minute with a skilful finish into the bottom of the net.

Congleton pulled a goal back when captain Darren Chadwick headed home directly from a 61st-minute corner, but Halesowen were not to be denied.

Ponticelli made it 4-1 in the fifth minute of added time from the penalty spot after Peter Williams fouled Kieren Donnelly.

The Yeltz then easily saw out the match and progressed to the next round.
