An important day in the Indian calendar is Diwali and Bandi Chhor Divas, the celebration of lights and freedom.

A beautiful holiday celebrated by many is a reminder to Sikhs on November 1st, 2024, Bandi Chhor Divas, that they are celebrating their human rights.

The idea of lights comes into play because Divali means ‘row of lights’, and many public places and homes are decorated with oil lamps called Divas, typically placed together to emit this beautiful display of light.

Diwali’s celebration date changes yearly as the moon determines the day it is celebrated each year.

The festivals are popular amongst each religious community as it is a chance to bring everyone together and share the same spirit.

As the dates on the calendar match up with Halloween this year, the Warwickshire Wildlife Trust has organised an exciting ‘Spooky Diwali Light Trail’ in Brueton Park, Solihull.

A fun mix of fear and light as the trail will take as long as 30 minutes to complete to admire the festivities and finish the journey with some refreshments at the Parkridge café.

Tickets are as cheap as £4.12 for general admission to £13.13 for a family of 2 adults and up to 3 kids, plus carers and children under 4 go free!

The event lasts until November 3rd, so bring your friends and family to enjoy a little scare and a mesmerising array of light.

Even if you don’t celebrate, you can still enjoy yourself for a small price at this annual event.
